Meet NextFest Team: Spaces Reimagined

As part of the NextFest competition, Spaces Reimagined is transforming Ottawa’s everyday environments into immersive design experiences. Led by team members Jade Bruins and Rula Aljumaili, they are excited to present The Spaces Reimagined Festival.

The Spaces Reimagined Festival is a design showcase festival based in the Ottawa Region. It transforms everyday environments into immersive creative experiences by bringing together young designers, small studios, independent spaces and local businesses to reveal Ottawa’s hidden creative pockets.

Jade and Rula's favourite festival to attend in the National Capital Region is Pique by Debaser. They feel the multi-room format and diverse lineup make it an inclusive and welcoming festival for everyone. They describe the atmosphere as electric, people bring incredible energy and the fashion is great.

Spaces Reimagined was inspired by the city’s creativity and seeks to showcase its talent while making opportunities more visible and accessible to everyone. They'd love to see the design community unite in transformed spaces to inspire connection, imagination, and creative exploration. Success for them means cultivating design that feels dynamic, immersive, and alive.

Spaces Reimagined's thoughts on the NextFest experience

NextFest has been an incredible opportunity. We’ve always wanted to start a festival but weren’t sure where to begin. This experience has given us the confidence and momentum to make it happen.
