As part of the NextFest competition, Frequency Fest is bringing forward a curated vision for electronic music in Ottawa. Led by team members Gabriel Balladelli and Sebastien Belanger, they are excited to present Frequency Fest.
Frequency Fest is a waterfront festival built around curation and movement: two stages, distinct sound directions, one shared crowd. Frequency Fest is a non-profit event that prioritizes inclusion, safety, and local talent.
Frequency Fest's Inspiration for their festival
We’ve always had a real love for raves and the dance music scene in Ottawa. It’s where we’ve made our best memories and found a sense of belonging. Over time, it became something our family and close circle were part of too, whether it was showing up, helping behind the scenes, or supporting the vision, and that’s what pushed us to want to build a festival that feels like home for the wider community.
Frequency Fest's dream outcome for year one is to successfully deliver a safe, well-run two-stage festival that feels professionally produced, highlights Ottawa talent, and leaves a strong first impression. More than anything, they want people to enjoy it, feel welcome, and want it back next year.
Frequency Fest has a desired community outcome to strengthen Ottawa’s electronic music ecosystem by giving local artists a high-visibility platform, creating a more inclusive and accessible cultural event, setting a higher standard for safer, respectful dance spaces.
