Meet NextFest Team: 1nvention

As part of the NextFest competition, 1nvention is bringing unground music out of the house and into the city. Led by team members Graham Digby, Quentin Wolkensperg and Kazmer Wolkensperg, 1vention presents XYZ Fest.

XYZ Fest is a DIY underground music community that fights everywhere for expression through performance and the spaces that expression needs.

We have been playing shows in Ottawa for about three years now. House shows have been our most successful in both attendance and experience. We have built quite a community of motivated punks but are tired of hosting shows at our homes. It’s beyond us now, these musicians and culture need something else.

The dream for 1nvention's festival in year one would be to successfully prove their cultural niche can put on the best show in Ottawa. To not only capture the energy of a house show, but to also translate it to a general audience would be a resounding success to them.

1nvention would like XYZ Fest to inspire more alternative and underground creativity in Ottawa and facilitate the creation of DIY communities and projects that focus on fostering connection and creativity.
