As part of the NextFest competition, team members Cedar Vasara and Annie Dai are stitching together creativity, sustainability and cultural expression through a unique textile-focused festival.
Their environmentally conscious festival aims to spotlight diverse textile art and traditions in Ottawa, encouraging participants to explore personal style, new skills and rethink their relationship with clothing.
Cedar & Annie love the Capital Pride festival and are inspired by its incredible energy. They align closely with the values that Capital Pride represents. The team began learning to sew this past year and with their gained experience, they’ve observed that artistic diversity in Ottawa doesn’t get recognized in the textile space. Cedar & Annie’s festival idea was sparked when the team read Ottawa’s plan to focus on reducing the massive amount of textile waste.
Cedar & Annie Testimonial
We are absolutely loving the experience. It has been such an amazing opportunity to learn and connect with peers and amazing professionals in the festival planning field. We are both extremely grateful for this opportunity and the amazing support that Traci, Tara, and the rest of the NextFest team have given us.
As Cedar & Annie continue to develop their festival, stay connected to see more festival ideas from the NextFest's teams.
