Ottawa Greek Fest (August 15 - August 25)
The Ottawa Greek Fest kicks off once again this year on August 15th! The festival will feature live music by bands including Alexandros and Poseidon and amazing performances from local dance school groups and the Zorba Show, an energetic dance performance that incorporates fire. Other highlights including olive oil tasting, greek language lessons, cooking demonstrations and, evidently, all of the amazing food! TD South Asian Festival (Until August 18)
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the TD South Asian Fest strives to bring out the best of South Asian culture into one city! The 10-day bonanza continues with a dance showcase, an art exhibition, and garba at city hall, all leading up to the MirchMasalaMegaMela over the weekend with nonstop performances. Headliners include Miss Pooja, Sharry Mann, and Raghav, along with the best local talent in Ottawa. All kinds of amazing South Asian cuisine and kids’ entertainment will be available that weekend at city hall alongside the performances as well, so don’t miss out! Capital Fair (August 16 - August 25)
Located at the Rideau Carleton Raceway Casino, the Capital Fair will be starting up on the 16th! Along with a huge selection of midway rides and carnival foods, the fair will also include a street dance battle, a monster truck show, a stunt dog show and so much more! Although admission is a small price of $5, you can go on midway rides on the opening day for FREE from noon to 1pm, courtesy of Deputy Mayor George Darouze! The Northern Lights production displays Canada’s cultural, historical and physical history through vivid visual and audio media on the centre block of Parliament Hill! that guarantees family fun.
