Canada Day is just around the corner and there are loads of festivities to get involved in! Here’s what you can look forward to this weekend to celebrate our wonderful country in multiple areas of the capital.

Canadian Heritage Official Celebrations

Parliament Hill

Get ready to be singing and dancing all day at the hill! Start off the celebration by being a part of a traditional Indigenous Peace and Friendship Circle to precede the Peace Tower Carillon Concert, There will be two concerts kicked off by the Canadian Armed Forces Snowbirds in the sky. The concerts will feature incredible Canadian artists include K’Naan, Brett Kissel, the Strumbellas and Coeur de Pirate. The afternoon concert will also feature the National Arts Centre Orchestra, a Canada Day first! End off the evening with stunning fireworks taking off at 10pm. Don’t miss out the biggest party of the city!

Major’s Hill Park

If the crowds at the hill are a bit much for you, but you still want a downtown experience, come to Major’s Hill for a two-day celebration! Both days will include many interactive activities including games, interactive art and even acrobatics! These activities will enrich your sense of community and remind you why our country is the best place to be! Catch concerts in the evening featuring more amazing Canadian Artists like Tyler Shaw and the Tokyo Police Club. And of course, you’ll be in the perfect place to watch the fireworks in the evening.

Canadian Museum of History

Admission will be FREE all day at the Canadian Museum of History! Immerse yourself into Indigenous culture with educational and fun interactive activities throughout the museum. The Tim Horton’s stage will feature more Canadian artists including Silla and Rise, Bleu Jeans, and River Doucette. Hang around in the area till the evening to see the incredible fireworks to top off a great weekend.

Canada Day in Kanata

It can get a little crazy downtown, we get it! If you live in the Kanata Region, you can celebrate Canada Day close to home at Walter Baker Park! Canada Day in Kanata will feature the hype of the hill, along with many family fun activities! Enjoy midway carnival fun and rock climbing while having a great day celebrating our country. Featured musicians include Black Cherry Band, Victoria Rose, and Psychosonic, all local Ottawa talent! You’ll be able to see a beautiful set of fireworks in the evening to end a great weekend close to home.
