About the Role

Position: IG1 – Marketing Communications Assistant – Canadian Improv Games

Desired Contract Term: 26 Weeks     Start Date:  January 19, 2026  End Date: Initially to the Province of Ontario’s current fiscal year ending, March 31, 2025. Additional weeks, ending after 26 weeks is pending the Province’s approval of our fiscal year (2026-2027) JCP program agreement.

Work Schedule:  4 business days / 32 hours per week  Work Location:  Westboro office + some hybrid availability

Job Summary: This position is funded through Ontario’s Job Creation Partnerships (JCP), see more details below. Assist and reports to the Program Manager and Operations Manager in the development and implementation of communications strategies including television, radio, print, social media and internet. Coordinates with regional producers to ensure accurate information communicated in each region.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop marketing and communication strategies for approval by the Program Manager.

  • Develop, execute and monitor the organization’s social media strategies.

  • Assist in the design of overall initiatives aimed at developing school and student participation.

  • Compile advertising campaigns, book advertising, and liaise with community newspapers/newsletters.

  • Coordinate public relations activities, foster ongoing communication with the media, pitch articles, update media list and track media coverage

  • Assist in preparing final reports and make recommendations.

  • Other administrative duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • College or University education

  • Training or previous experience in marketing, social media marketing, public relations, or related field

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Must be computer literate and familiar with social media marketing techniques

  • Ability to meet deadlines and perform under pressure

Additional Qualifications Required:

Candidate eligibility for JCP is determined according to the following criteria:

  1. An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week.

  2. A resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada.

  3. Meet at least 1 of the following criteria:

  4. Has an established Employment Insurance (EI) benefit period.

  5. Previously established an EI benefit period that has ended within the previous 60 months.

  6. Paid employee EI premiums (e.g. Box 18 on the T4) in at least 3 of the last 10 years while earnings have been at least $2000 in each of those years.

NOTE: Persons currently enrolled in full-time academic studies are not eligible for consideration. Those who qualify to establish an Employment Insurance (EI) claim must do so prior to being considered for JCP participation.

Remuneration:

$704 (gross) per week paid biweekly by the Province of Ontario (average hourly rate: $22.00 based on 4 days/32 hours).
