Winterlude – Second Weekend Preview

The second weekend of the 41st Winterlude is upon us! While maintaining our iconic activities such as skating on the Rideau Canal and sliding at the Snowflake Kingdom, we’re offering new experiences at several destinations, including the ByWard Market and Sparks Street, in Ottawa—adding an urban spin to this winter celebration! Here are just a few of the activities offered during the second Winterlude weekend:

Winter Pride

Ice Cabaret featuring Mado

Montréal's most famous drag queen is coming to town to kick-off WinterPride’s inaugural weekend of outdoor programming on Ottawa’s famed Sparks Street! Even in the February chill, Capital Tease Burlesque and DJs will sizzle alongside Mado as the Capital Pride stage shines brightly in the winter night! Forget staying at home—warm up with some licensed indoor and outdoor food and drink specials from our friends along Sparks Street. Kick off your weekend in style at the Ice Cabaret featuring Mado!

Sparks St., between O’Connor St. & Bank St., Ottawa

Come OUT and Play!

Bring the kids and create an ice mosaic using small coloured blocks of ice in the colours of the rainbow flag, challenge yourself with a game of Basketball Tic-Tac-Toe, and be on the lookout for the Ice Hogs family—Winterlude’s furry mascots. Our friends from the Ottawa Redblacks will also be on site for autographs, photo-ops, and other fun surprises!

Ottawa Ice Dragon Boat Festival

The Ice Dragon Boat Festival is back! Come watch the races and cheer on the competitors! Enjoy free concerts from Bedouin Soundclash, Dear Rouge, Jacquie Neville, Jeremy Fisher, Silent Winters, Trails, and more.

Rideau Canal Skateway, Dows Lake

Qaggiq - Celebrate Life!

Sing-along in Inuktut: ancient Inuit songs from Canada's Arctic. In this interactive video installation, visitors are invited to experience and sing along with three ancient songs (pisiit). Songs and drum dance are central components of Inuit culture.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
