The Embassy of Mexico in Canada, in collaboration with ContraCanto, Scherzino, and Fundación Sueño Lúcido, are delighted to announce the first international tour of "Proyecto ContraCanto", an inspiring musical initiative founded by maestro Arturo Suaste in 2022 that empowers Mexican Indigenous girls from Atlacholoaya, Morelos, through the transformative power of music.

The event will take place on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 6:00pm, at the First Baptist Church (140 Laurier Ave W, Ottawa, ON, Canada). Tickets can be purchased here. Voluntary donation, every gesture makes a difference!

The evening will feature an ensemble of guitars and choir, performing emblematic Mexican and Latin American pieces such as "Tierra Mestiza", "Son de la Negra", "La Llorona", "Amorcito Corazón", "Cielito Lindo", and "Idilio", among others.

Through music, ContraCanto not only nurtures artistic talent but also strengthens emotional well-being and creates new opportunities for the future of these young indigenous women.

In addition to their first performance in Canada, "ContraCanto" will present another unforgettable evening of music and inspiration at the Notre-Dame de la Guadeloupe Church (30 rue St-Onge, Gatineau) on Wednesday, September 24 at 6:30pm (doors open at 6:00pm).

Do not miss the chance to support these young artists and be part of this extraordinary cultural experience.
