Venue change for this week's Story Swap!

The September 5 Story Swap has changed venues due to construction issues at the PSAC Building and will now be held at the Ottawa Public Library in the auditorium from 7pm-9pm. On the first Thursday of every month (12 months a year), the Ottawa StoryTellers host a story swap / open stage. Admission is free, and everyone is invited to come and tell a story and / or listen to the stories. Stories should be 10 minutes or less and must be told and not read. Please join OST for a very special interdisciplinary show as a part of Nuit Blanche, September 21 at the Rectory Art House (179 Murray) from 6:30pm to 2am. Admission free. Artist Karen Bailey has captured, in portrait form, the radiant energy of six storytellers. The tellers will perform personal stories while their second selves look on. The portraits offer one view of self-hood while the tellers’ own tales create another. Are the two representations of self in agreement? Featuring Pat Holloway, Kim Kilpatrick, Tom Lips, Kalyani Pandya, Caitlyn Paxson, Sherri Yazdani, and artist Karen Bailey. Announcing the 2014 Season of Speaking Out, Speaking In at the NAC Fourth Stage!

Putting the Fun into Facts Very had to turn dry facts into fun, interactive storytelling? This class is aimed at storytellers and educators who have to make the mundane magical. We will explore effective ways to incorporate interactive play, puzzles, props, and games, and even how to give your audience sections of the story to control. Gail new methods of delivering complicated or heavy subjects, and using multi-sensory learning to aid the audience's deeper comprehension. More info
