When: Monday, March 27th 2017, World Theatre Day! Where: Arts Court Studio, 2 Daly Ave. Time: 7pm doors, 7:30pm show Tickets: $20 at artscourt.ca or at www.fools.ca Theatre companies from across the region will join together in celebration of World Theatre Day. They will write, rehearse and produce original works of theatre based on three items of inspiration revealed to them just 48 hours before they have to go on stage. A panel of easily bribed judges will decide who will walk away with the coveted Rubber Chicken Award and the title of Best Theatre Company in Ottawa. This event raises funds for The AFC (Actors' Fund of Canada), a charitable organization that acts as a lifeline for members of Canada’s entertainment industry - through compassionate support, they help Canadian entertainment professionals maintain their health, dignity and ability to work. The Ottawa Theatre Challenge also serves to bring together Ottawa’s theatre community in a fun and stimulating atmosphere that celebrates the spirit of new theatre creation in our nation's capital on a day that recognizes live theatre across the globe. More about this year's Ottawa Theatre Challenge: Last year's winners, a Company of Fools will be defending their championship title from a slew of challengers. The competition will be fierce with feathers flying, sullying the atmosphere around the easily swayed judges; Emily Pearlman (Mi Casa Theatre), Gabrielle Lazarovitz (Actor & Director) and former Fool AL Connors (The Gladstone Theatre). Patrick Gauthier (Festival Director, Ottawa Fringe Festival and undercurrents) will kick off the festivities by reading the World Theatre Address - a message that will be read around the world. Alongside a Company of Fools, other participating companies include: Blacksheep Theatre, Dead Unicorn Ink, Strange Visitations, The Improv Embassy, Suzart Productions, Orpheus Musical Theatre Society, Toasted Theatre Company, Plosive Productions, One Kind One Blind and more! Tickets are available through Arts Court at http://bit.ly/2nCU1Fjor at www.fools.ca For more information or to learn how you can donate funds or prizes, or have your theatre company can participate, email info@fools.ca
