Ottawa, ON – Figaro, the Barber of Seville, played by Opera Lyra’s star baritone Joshua Hopkins, will be giving local celebrities haircuts after receiving a lesson in the tonsorial arts from the Byward Market’s own House of Barons Barber Shop today. Confirmed celebrity participants include Mayor Jim Watson and “Butterfly Child” Jonathan Pitre. Location: 60 Byward Market Square In front of Byward Market Square, beside EQ3 Ottawa, ON Date: Thursday, September 10 Time: 12:15 p.m. The media event will include short remarks from Opera Lyra’s new Artistic Director Timothy Vernon and Mayor Watson before the demonstration of barbering skills begins. The multi-talented Figaro will be singing the famous aria Largo al factotum as he “cuts” our celebrities’ hair. The event will promote Opera Lyra’s rollicking production of the Barber of Seville, which runs from Saturday, September 26 to Saturday, October 3 at the National Arts Centre.
