Quite a buzz has built up around live music in Canada in recent weeks, from the CLMA's landmark economic impact study to the ByWard Market's new Drake-owned venue to the #CanadaIsLiveMusic campaign in response to U.S. tariffs. Now, FACTOR has announced funding support for live music companies with proven track records.
Starting today, March 10th, companies with a history of successfully presenting concerts by Canadian artists will be able to apply to FACTOR's pilot Promoter Program. FACTOR will "share the risk of investment" with successful applicants, allowing the recipients to spend the funding on things like artist fees, venue rentals, and marketing expenses. To be eligible to apply, companies must be both Canadian-owned and Canadian-controlled.
"During a time of inflationary pressures and heightened competition from foreign-owned companies, the investments will allow these companies to take on the additional risk of presenting concerts on stages across Canada and promoting them effectively to help build audiences for Canadian artists," FACTOR's website states.
Live music companies won't want to delay their applications, however. The pilot Promoter Program closes exactly one month from now, on April 10th, 2025.
Eligible applicants can submit their applications on FACTOR's website. Questions about the program can be directed to FACTOR.
