On Thursday, September 11, 6 PM, at Arts Court, members of the theatre and storytelling community in Ottawa will gather to discuss the art of the SOLO VIEW.
PATRICK GAUTHIER, Festival Director, Ottawa Fringe Festival, will be the panel host. Patrickwill be joined by:

All of these artists bring decades of experience, writing, performing, and producing one-person plays, and storytelling events.
Why does the solo performer remain the ultimate challenge for theatre artists? How is it that the simple tale, well told, can still hold an audience in its thrall? All performing artists consider themselves ‘storytellers’ – but are there defined boundaries between theatrical performance and storytelling? What is the difference – if any – between a theatrical presentation and the telling of a story? In what sense do these art forms offer a unique experience for an audience?
Come prepared to explore these questions, and a few of your own. Bring your promotional materials, sit down for a coffee, and just spend time talking storytelling and theatre with artists you know, and artists you’ve yet to meet.
This panel discussion is FREE, but we will pass the hat to help pay for the space, and use the money toward future panels.
