OC Transpo is offering a Free Transit Weekend on Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27. Explore the entire city with unlimited transit services – including on all buses, trains and Para Transpo.
Transit will be free on buses, O‑Train Lines 1, 2 and 4, and Para Transpo all weekend. Residents and visitors can ride free to the many major events happening across the city, including the Ottawa Block Party and Nuit Blanche on Saturday, September 26.
With unlimited free trips from 3 am on Saturday, September 26 until 3 am on Monday, September 28, you can explore all of Ottawa for free. For help with planning your adventure, use the Travel Planner or the Transit app.
OC Transpo is ready to welcome new and returning customers throughout the entire weekend, including having staff out across the network engaging with customers, O-Buskers performances, a Ride and Seek challenge, and double-car trains operating on Line 1 to provide more space for customers. In addition, Happy Goat Coffee Co. will offer free coffee promotions between 9 am and 11 am both days at its in-station kiosks located at Blair, Hurdman, and Tunney’s Pasture stations.
Saturday, September 26
On Saturday, September 26 between 10 am and 2 pm, OC Transpo is hosting an Open House at the future O-Train Line 1 Place d’Orléans Station. Customers can tour the new station and chat with staff about the Line 1 East Extension.
There is so much happening downtown to celebrate Ottawa’s 200th anniversary. The Ottawa 200 Block Party at City Hall has something for everyone from 10 am to 10 pm. You also don’t want to miss SoundScape, the ByTown Museum, Pique, the Biodiversity Tree or Nuit Blanche.
OC Transpo will be at the Ottawa 200 Block Party from 10 am to 10 pm with a community outreach booth and a vintage bus to share transit history, answer questions and offer giveaways.
Sunday, September 27
Join OC Transpo at Hurdman Station on Sunday, September 27 between 10 am and 2 pm for a Transit Showcase. Customers can participate in fun activities, tour some of OC Transpo’s newest vehicles, learn about exciting new customer experiences, safety initiatives, and much more. As part of the event, OC Transpo will host Para Transpo Talk. Customers, their families, companions, and support persons are encouraged to attend. Whether you are a regular Para Transpo customer or simply interested in learning more about the service, everyone is welcome.
Fare gates will be open at O-Train stations, and there’s no need to pay when boarding the bus. Fare readers on buses cannot be turned off, so please avoid tapping your PRESTO, credit or debit card to prevent accidental charges.
Para Transpo customers can book free trips by using My Para Transpo or calling 613-560-5000 one day before they plan to travel.
