Ottawa, July 7, 2013 – RBC Bluesfest organizers today announced the winners of their third annual ‘She's the One’ Emerging Female Artist Competition, sponsored by Ottawa's boom 99.7. The competition is a cross-Canada talent search for the best in emerging Canadian female music talent. With the help of boom 99.7, the RBC Bluesfest team welcomed submissions from more than 200 Canadian female musicians. The competition included a solo and band category. This year's finalists in the Solo Category were Suzie Vinnick, Tara Holloway, and Ann Vriend. Finalists in the Band Category were Alejandra Ribera, Saidah Baba Talibah, and Danielle Duval. This year’s winners were Ann Vriend in the solo category and Saidah Baba Talibah in the band category. “It was such an honour, pleasure and joy to be a part of Ottawa Bluesfest's She's The One competition,” says Saidah Baba Talibah. “It was a wonderful platform to introduce and showcase some incredible female artists to new audiences. Fortunately, I was sharing the stage with women I already knew and loved, so it was an extra special moment to be a part of.  I hope to see this contest continue to nurture the careers of emerging female artists for many years to come.” “The calibre of artists that submitted entries this year was phenomenal, and the finalists made it very difficult to narrow it down to two winners,” says RBC Bluesfest’s Be in the Band coordinator, Ana Miura. “This competition highlights the abundance of young female talent that is out there at a national level, with every province in Canada being represented.
