RBC Bluesfest today announced the launch of the annual “SHE’S THE ONE” contest—a cross-Canada talent search for the best in emerging Canadian female music talent. In partnership with Corus Entertainment and Universal Music Canada, RBC Bluesfest organizers are looking to discover and support promising young female singers. "We’ve always felt that there's a lot of undiscovered female talent in Canada," says Bluesfest's executive and artistic director, Mark Monahan. "Each year the SHE’S THE ONE competition proves that to be true." The SHE’S THE ONE winner’s prize package is focused on career development and industry networking. Universal Music Canada will be working with the winner of SHE’S THE ONE to produce a single for worldwide release. The winner will collaborate with industry song writers and producers to write a potential hit song, and all expenses—including any recording, production and travel costs related to the prize package—will be covered by the RBC Bluesfest. The winner will also be given a slot on stage at the 2017 edition of the festival. This will include all-access rock star treatment at the 'fest and introductions to some of the most influential movers and shakers in the music industry. When last year's winner—then 14-year-old Grace Lachance from Stittsville, Ontario—took the stage, judges knew they were onto something. Grace absolutely wowed them, and the rest is history. After attracting the industry’s attention since winning the contest, Grace has been actively performing, while also travelling to studios in Toronto and Kingston to work on her upcoming album, expected for release in 2016. “The competition gives young ladies from across Canada a chance to shine. The overall objective is to find that one special young artist with an incredible voice backed up by a moving live performance,” says RBC Bluesfest ‘SHE’S THE ONE’ coordinator Nick Descarie. ”We have definitely been impressed by past winners; especially last year with Grace Lachance.” The 2016 RBC Bluesfest “SHE’S THE ONE” competition is now open for submissions to young Canadian female singers, ages 13 to 21.  More information is available on the RBC Bluesfest SHE’S THE ONE webpage: ottawabluesfest.ca/community/shes-the-one
