Second Show Announced for Leif Vollebekk in Ottawa

Writer: Hayley CombaluzierHayley Combaluzier

Arboretum Festival is proud to announce an encore presentation of LEIF VOLLEBEKK on Thursday, January 30th at St. Alban’s Church, following the sell-out of the first performance. Wielding some of the best pipes in our fair land, LEIF VOLLEBEKK pens songs that are unabashedly classic, as they are wholly new. After his 2010 debut, Vollebekk wanted to make a record like the ones he loves by Gillian Welch or Ryan Adams, that feel old and familiar even when they’re new. The result, Vollebekk's latest release North Americana, is beautiful, alive, and human – shambling ballads, noisy folk songs, vivid portraits of a watercolour life. Opening the January 30th show is the ambitious, electro-acoustic duo BOSVELD. Anchored in rich textures and the artful melancholia of British folk like Nick Drake or John Martyn, Bosveld will swaddle you in a blanket of drifting stanzas and rich electronics. Advance tickets available at Vertigo Records, Compact Music locations, and online at Ticketweb.ca. In partnership by CHUO 89.1 FM, Kichesippi Beer, and Ottawa Showbox.
