Preview of Ottawa's 26th Latin American Film Festival (LAFF)

Ottawa - 25th of April, 2023 The Group of Embassies of Latin American Countries (GRULA) in Canada are pleased to announce the 26th edition of the Latin American Film Festival (LAFF), which will take place from May 30 to June 24, 2023, at Saint Paul University, in Ottawa. The festival will feature an extraordinary selection of film productions from 17 countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. The program of the Festival will be published in the website of Ottawa Festivals Network at www.ottawafestivals.ca. Attendees will enjoy, free of charge, a diverse variety of genres, including drama, fiction, thriller, and documentary, among others. All films, produced from 2016 to 2023, will be screened with English subtitles. Many of the featured films have already gained international and national recognition, being nominated for prestigious film festivals or receiving awards for their outstanding achievements. In addition, the festival will launch the screening of a film produced in Canada by the Ecuadorian-Canadian filmmaker, Lisetty Sandoval. The Embassies of the Latin American Countries (GRULA) express their gratitude to their partners: the City of Ottawa, Saint Paul University, Ottawa Festivals Network, and the Canadian Film Institute for their invaluable support. This collaboration demonstrates the strong ties between Latin America and Canada, and the commitment to promote cultural exchange and understanding between our nations.
