Ottawa Senators to become major sponsor of Ottawa 2017

Ottawa – Ottawa Senators president Cyril Leeder announced today a contribution of $500,000 in support of Ottawa 2017, our city’s celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary. The $500,000 will come through a wide variety of forms, including but not exclusive to, usage of Canadian Tire Centre, digital properties, advertising, National Hockey League in-game assets and cross-promotions. “2017 is positioned to be a truly remarkable year for the Senators, the city and the entire country,” said Leeder. “When we presented this idea to Eugene, he was adamant that our support of Ottawa 2017 should reflect our own organization’s commitment and passion to the anniversary year. Eugene and the entire organization are proud of our city and our country, and even further, this partnership with Ottawa 2017 aligns perfectly with #SensVision25, the celebration of the Senators’ 25th hockey season.” In addition to this sponsorship contribution, the Ottawa Senators Foundation announced last summer that they have surpassed more than $100 million in community contributions. The foundation continues to make their mark on the community with programs like the Sens RINK Project, Roger’s House and the Sens Campership Program. Mayor Jim Watson thanked Mr. Melnyk and Mr. Leeder on behalf of the Ottawa 2017 Board of Directors, noting that “the Ottawa Senators continue to shine. Their heroic late season performance is just one example of the depth of character of this hockey club.
