Ottawa Fringe celebrates its 25th year this June

Writer: Hayley CombaluzierHayley Combaluzier

Ottawa Fringe is celebrating a huge milestone June 16-26, 2022, and tickets are now on sale! Not only is it the first festival back in person since 2019, but it’s also the 25th anniversary. With 42 productions across 6 venues, plus other celebratory events, this festival will bring folks from Ottawa and beyond to Arts Court. "We're all very excited for the 2022 Ottawa Fringe Festival! We're fortunate that this milestone and our return to in-person performances have coincided and given us the perfect opportunity to reunite the Ottawa arts community. So after a turbulent few years, it truly feels like we have ‘reached our destination,’" says Alain Richer, Executive Director. More #Fringe25 specific celebrations will be announced soon. This quarter century festival brings acts of all genres and origins to Downtown Ottawa. A sci-fi inspired production from Brooklyn, NY, USA, a Magic Show from Adelaide, Australia, and stand-up comedy from Ottawa makes Fringe 25 the destination of choice this summer. Here’s a sneak peak of what will be ‘touching down’ at the Ottawa Fringe this year. Check out the award-winning Dance company Pointe Tango (Montreal, Canada) as they take the stage in “Tango, to the Pointe”, with powerful lifts and fiery footwork; 2Hoots Productions (Los Angeles, USA), which tells the story of an American caught in Berlin during the Second World War; The hilarious Michael Lifshitz’s (Ottawa, Canada) “Speech from the Throne” uses humour to explore living with a Disability in Canada; “Unmatched” presented by Levity Theatre (Ottawa, Canada) explores modern dating in a world of smartphones and swipes. Additionally, Levity Theatre will be part of the pilot for Fringe ONTour, an Ontario-based Fringe tour through Ottawa, Hamilton, and Toronto. Looking for more?
