Ottawa festivals and events receive more than $2.6-million in funding from Province

The Province has announced the recipients of 2014 Celebrate Ontario funding grants, and more than $2.6-million is being invested in 21 festivals and events taking place in Canada’s Capital Region. “This is a very important industry that is part of Ottawa’s identity as an amazing place to live and visit, and one largely driven by volunteers and not-for-profit organizations,” said John Brooman, Ottawa Festivals President, and CEO and President of Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival and the Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation. “Tremendous positive benefits are realized,” continued Brooman, “from increased economic activity and tourism dollars, to greater access to culture and arts resulting in improved quality of life for our communities and neighbourhoods.
