Just two weeks to go until the 44th Ottawa Jazz Festival!
Ottawa (Monday, June 10, 2024) – OLG’s long-term commitment to the Ottawa Jazz Festival (June 21 - June 30, 2024) as its presenting sponsor makes it possible to curate some of the most talented current and rising musicians on the OLG Stage. This celebrated Stage has become a showpiece of the Festival, engrained into the very fabric of downtown nightlife in Ottawa each summer.

The OLG Stage features two popular avant-garde, multi-genre series, one at 7:30pm and the 10:30pm OLGAfter Dark Series, the only late night dance party in the downtown core. Enthusiastic crowds of all ages make their way across the street from the Main Stage at Confederation Park, to dance the night away to exciting and dynamic breakthrough artists.
The OLG Stage also features several daytime FREE shows throughout the Festival.

June 21: The 7:30pm OLG Series kicks-off with the expressive Brass Queens. An all-female brass band from Brooklyn, Brass Queens bring an energetic mix of traditional New Orleans brass with a modern twist, captivating audiences with their lively performances and unique style.
At 10:30pm that evening audiences can catch Winnipeg's Begonia. This project is the passion child of Alexa Dirks who is known for her powerful voice and emotive pop-soul music, blending introspective lyrics with lush, modern production.
June 22 is a night for funk: Smelloship at 7:30pm will set the groove before Parliament Funkadelic feat. George Clinton on the Main Stage at 8:30pm. Known for their eclectic sound and experimental approach, Smelloship blends various genres to create an innovative musical experience that defies conventional categorization.
After P-Funk’s Main Stage show, head back across the street to the OLG Stage to catch Moon Hooch at 10:30pm. The Brooklyn-based trio Moon Hooch is famous for their high-energy performances and unique sound that combines saxophones and percussion to create a raucous and danceable blend of jazz and EDM.
June 23 is co-presented by the Ottawa Jazz Festival and Axé Worldfest (and in promotional support by Saravah.ca) in an Evening of São João that is a celebration of Brazilian culture and heritage. Brazilian-born Flávia Nascimento at 7:30pm will infuse her music with the vibrant rhythms and melodies of her homeland, delivering performances rich with samba, forró, and bossa nova influences.
Nation Beat merges the sounds of Brazil and the American South, creating an infectious mix of maracatu, funk, and brass that gets audiences moving with its lively and rhythmic energy at 10:30pm.
June 25: Toronto’s guerilla-folk party-punk massive Lemon Bucket Orkestra returns to the OLG Stage at 10:30pm to raise the roof off the tent with their Eastern European folk traditions. Their boisterous and theatrical performances create a festive atmosphere that turns every concert into a celebration.
: Ottawa’s 12-piece powerhouse soul and funk collective, The Commotions will deliver tight grooves and smooth vocals, reminiscent of the classic Motown and Stax sounds at 10:30pm. Vibrant, versatile, and bursting with unbelievable music, The Commotions link the sounds of yesterday and today with unparalleled attention to detail, musical mastery, and a continued willingness to learn.
June 27: French singer and songwriter, Gabi Hartmann combines her jazz sensibilities with global influences, crafting soulful tunes that reflect her multicultural background and artistic versatility at 7:30pm.
At 10:30pm Huntertones
high energy, horn-driven sound features genre bending composition and unconventional covers. Every show is a social experience celebrating the joy of music. Performing a mix of jazz, funk, soul, and rock, showcasing exceptional musicianship and a playful approach to live performances, the band formed in Columbus, Ohio and is now based in Brooklyn, NY.
June 28: Chuck Copenace at 7:30pm is an Indigenous jazz trumpeter whose music weaves traditional influences with contemporary jazz, creating a powerful and dynamic sound that resonates with cultural depth.
At 10:30pm Butcher Brown blends jazz, funk, hip-hop, and rock into a cohesive and innovative sound, making them a standout in the contemporary music scene. They continually challenge themselves to break from routine and old formulas to evolve “…music for the whole solar system.”
June 29: Montreal-based artist Lauren Spear, the artist behind Le Ren, offers introspective folk music at 7:30pm. Marked by her haunting voice and poignant lyrics that explores themes of love and loss and taps into a shared musical memory.
Recognized for their distinctive blend of folk, indie, and electronic music, creating atmospheric and emotionally resonant soundscapes, LA LOM (the Los Angeles League of Musicians) at 10:30pm are an instrumental trio formed in Los Angeles in 2021. They blend the sounds of Cumbia Sonidera, 60’s soul ballads and classic romantic boleros that emanate from radios, backyard parties and dance clubs of Los Angeles with the twang of Peruvian Chicha and Bakersfield Country.
June 30: On the last evening of the Festival, don’t miss the vibrant fusion of Afro-Cuban rhythms and jazz led by the Cuban pianist Rafael Zaldivarand his Trio at 7:30pm, elevated by the soulful vocals of Samantha Christ Francois.
Recognized as one of the most electrifying live performers of his generation, cap off your 2024 Festival experience at 10:30pm with tour-de-force drummer Yussef Dayes, who brings a fresh perspective to jazz, fusing elements of hip-hop, electronic, and world music to create dynamic and captivating performances.
