New website helps patrons and venue owners explore Ottawa at Night

The City of Ottawa Nightlife Office has launched the Ottawa at Night website to help build awareness for the city’s nightlife, to promote nightlife safety and to assist nightlife businesses.

The site caters mostly to individuals who want to plan a night out. You can use the Venues directory to find nightlife spots with the vibe you’re looking for. It includes a list of 99 venues that offer attractions at night under six categories:

Cinemas

Live music

Pubs/bars

Theatres

Nightclubs

Comedy clubs

Venues are further categorized according to location – east, west, south, central and rural – and by 17 genres or “vibes” such as Alternative, Hip-hop, Karaoke, Drag, Stand-Up and Folk/Country.

Safety first

Staying safe is the first step to enjoying a great night out. Everyone should check out the Safety section for tips and resources that include:

A Safety Guide for people going out at night.

A Safety Guide for people who work in nightlife venues.

Hospitality, Tourism and Nightlife-Partner Organizations

Francophone Business Resources

Ottawa at Night is an initiative led by the City of Ottawa Nightlife Office, as part of the 2023-2026 Nightlife Economy Action Plan.

Venue operators who want their location included can make a request through the website. They should also check out the Ottawa at Night Safety Guide and look out for safety workshops that will benefit their employees. Registration dates and details will be posted on the site later this fall.
