Today (Thursday, January 26), the Canadian Film Institute presents a live one-on-one interview with legendary, documentary filmmaker Alanis Obomsawin at the Arts Court. She will be discussing her filmography, issues affecting Indigenous people in Canada, her artistic process, and her impressive career which spans 46 years. Doors open at 7:00pm. This interview will be immediately followed by a reception in the Arts Court Studio, and Alanis Obomsawin will be in attendance to meet audience members. On Friday, January 27 at 7pm, don't miss the free screening of We Can't Make the Same Mistake Twice, a 2016 Canadian documentary by Alanis Obomsawin. The film looks at the First Nations activist Cindy Blackstock and her court case against the federal government of Canada for underfunding social services to children living on First Nations reserves. The screening takes place in the River Building Theatre at Carleton University.
