This year’s Artpreneur Ottawa Conference, presented byAlterna Savings, will give artists the directions to map out their journey to success. At the Shenkman Arts Centre on Saturday, November 5, 2016 conference delegates will engage in conversations and explore approaches to working and thriving in a capital city. Delivered by successful Ottawa artists and arts groups, this year’s keynote and panel speakers, will inspire local and emerging artists to stay and create in the National Capital. The fourth annual Artpreneur Ottawa Conference 2016 will share insights about how to operate and grow in this unique environment.

Keynote Address:

The keynote address will be delivered by an inspiring trio of speakers with one of Canada’s most accomplished singer-songwriters

Lynn Miles, theatre creator and producer and the first CBC Radio One (Q) artist-in-residence Adrienne Wong and contemporary visual artist Jinny Yu recently presented at the Venice Biennale

. All three speakers have presented their work locally, nationally and internationally. They will share their various paths and discuss the career decisions that put them on the map. From finding success at the community level to the international stage, from finances to creative output, this keynote will be a dynamic multidisciplinary conversation about the diverse landscapes in which artists work and how they structure meaningful careers.

This year’s program had strategic inputs from an Advisory Committee that included representatives from the Acting Company, Community Arts + Social Engagement, eSAX, Invest Ottawa, Musicians’ Association of Ottawa-Gatineau, Ottawa Music Industry Coalition, RedBrick Rooster, SAW Video,SPAO, Willow Sound Artist Development. The annual conference is expected to welcome up to 150 emerging and established artists, and post-secondary students pursuing a professional career in the arts.
