Indonesia will be the highlight at the wonderful initiative of Ottawa Welcomes the World (OWTW) Program, celebrating Canada’s 150th.  For its 12th festival, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Ottawa will be holding its biggest event yet, by becoming the one and only country in the OWTW Program to hold its festivities at the Aberdeen Pavilion, Lansdowne Park, from 25 – 27 August 2017, 10am–6pm. With over 130 participants, the Indonesian Festival will be showcasing a trade exhibition with over 30 companies from Indonesia with various products from spices, apparel, coffee and handicraft to furniture. Cultural performances by talented dancers and musicians from Indonesia and also fashion shows will be presented at the festival. The festival would be incomplete without delicacies from Indonesia at the food market bazaar. Adding significance to the festival, the three day festival will be preceded by a Business Forum at the Aberdeen Pavilion in the morning of 25 August 2017 with the theme “Exploring Business Opportunities in Indonesia”. The Forum in collaboration with the Government of Canada, Export Development Canada and Trade Facilitation Office aims to provide information and updates of doing business, trade, and investment opportunities in Indonesia and connect Indonesian and Canadian businesses to boost bilateral trade and investment. Representatives from Bank Indonesia, Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board, Indonesia Creative Economy Agency, Governors of West Sumatera and North Sulawesi, as well as the provinces of West Java and East Java will be attending the Festival, showcasing the significance of Indonesia’s relationship with Canada. It is an affair for all ages. Children will experience a special technique of making batik and shadow puppets – while adults can indulge in Indonesian food and sip a freshly brewed coffee from Indonesia. Embassies and High Commissions will mark their country’s national celebration with a series of world-class free events at Lansdowne Park. As part of this Ottawa 2017 Signature Event Series, each country will celebrate their culture through food tasting, musical celebrations, artistic performances and more! This celebration of Canada’s diversity and our rich multicultural heritage will promote and strengthen ties between nations on the occasion of Canada’s 150th anniversary.
