Dear OFN Members and Friends,
It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Lee Dunbar. For over 15 years, Lee held a senior position with the Ottawa Festival Network, leaving an indelible mark not only on our organization but also on the wider Ottawa community.
Lee was more than a leader; he was a mentor, a collaborator, and a constant source of encouragement. Over his remarkable tenure, he guided countless young professionals in communications, photography, and research. He had an exceptional ability to nurture talent, always emphasizing growth and connection.
Beyond OFN, Lee was a community builder in every sense. His passions extended to hockey, where he spent two decades coaching and mentoring youth in the Ottawa Valley. His belief in "filling emotional tanks" wasn’t just a coaching philosophy—it was the way he approached life. Even during his fight with cancer, Lee continued to inspire those around him, supported by the very young athletes he had once guided.
A devoted father and husband, Lee embodied generosity, optimism, and resilience. His volunteerism and his contributions to local arts, reflected his unwavering commitment to making our community stronger and more vibrant.
As we reflect on Lee's life and the countless lives he touched, we are reminded of his powerful legacy of kindness and mentorship. His belief in people and his dedication to building a better future will remain an inspiration to us all.
During this difficult time, our thoughts are with Lee’s family and loved ones. Please join us in honouring Lee’s memory by sharing your stories, memories, or reflections.
With deepest condolences,
OFN Staff and Board Members
