OTTAWA, August 20, 2015 – Places floored with grass, dirt, and gravel are tough places to put on a B-Boy Jam. So, House of PainT Festival of Urban Arts and Culture launched an Indiegogo rewards / equity crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to construct a new, reusable, portable dance floor, after last year’s floor was destroyed by a falling structure and inclement, winter weather. House of PainT plans to raise $5000 for the construction, supplies, and safe storage of the floor in time for their 12th annual celebration of urban arts culture, September 9 – 13th, 2015 at Brewer Park. The rewards for contributing to the project include free local event tickets; while ‘worldwide’ rewards include a branded tote bag or a House of PainT t-shirt. A funder who contributes $1000 from anywhere around the globe is rewarded branded swag items and a piece of art, painted live at House of PainT Festival this September. The inauguration of the completed floor will feature solo and crew dance battles and will take place at the annual House of PainT Festival of Urban Arts & Culture, September 9-13 2015. “The way I see the dance floor is, it’s the hub of the wheel that is the House of PainT,” says Sabra Ripley, festival founder. “There is so much happening, especially during the main event, and everything flows within this giant circle, and it centers around the dance floor.” Leading the construction team will be experienced carpenter, Ryan Laxdal.
