Writer: Hayley CombaluzierHayley Combaluzier

Feast of Fields Ottawa-Gatineau kicks off Canadian Organic week with a new twist on a popular event, September 21st, 12:30 -3:30 at the Moulin Wakefield Mill, presented by Canadian Organic Growers – Ottawa St Lawrence Outaouais Chapter (COG OSO). This year’s event will celebrate the bounty of fall and the wonderful organic foods, wines and beers Ontario and Quebec have to offer. Three creative and talented chefs will join forces with local organic producers and growers to create “tapas” size tastings beyond your wildest taste buds’ imagination! Enjoy pairings with organic wines and beer, while chatting with the organic producers and chefs. Feast of Fields 2014 is the major fundraiser for COG OSO’s major programs: Growing up Organic (GUO) in our schools and Senior Organic Gardeners (SOG) in our community. GUO brings organic gardening to schoolyards and students to organic farms. SOG brings joy to seniors and to their families. “Organic farming is a labour of love. Having the opportunity to see Ottawa’s most talented chefs come together and create unforgettable dishes using ingredients we’ve grown is so rewarding. It’s an honour to participate in an event that celebrates our region, our food and our culinary talents.” Stuart Collins, Bryson Farms. Take a scenic drive to Wakefield, through gorgeous Gatineau Park and walk through the grounds of the Moulin Wakefield Mill before arriving at Feast of Fields. Bring your appetite to taste all the delicious offerings! Rain or shine, come stroll through the forest, and enjoy live music, savour local organic offerings all while chatting with farmers and chefs. It will be an event to remember!
