Celebrate the end of the summer this long weekend at the Mackenzie King Estate

Canada’s Capital Region¾Summer is not over yet, so let’s celebrate! This long weekend, gather your friends and family, and participate in free activities that will take you back in history at the Mackenzie King Estate, in the heart of Gatineau Park. From Saturday, September 3, to Monday, September 5

At Moorside

  • Blacksmithing demonstration (noon to 4 pm)

  • 1938 Ford Club Cabriolet exhibit (1 pm to 5 pm)

  • Conversations with a painter (noon to 4 pm)

  • Live music by Polished Brass Quintet (1 pm to 4 pm)

  • Guided tours of the Waterfall Trail (start times: 1 pm and 3 pm)

  • Mackenzie King Estate interactive colouring wall

  • Self-guided tours of the gardens, ruins and paths

  • Tour the Moorside cottage

  • Canada’s Garden Route Contest

 At Kingswood

  • Face painting for children (12:30 pm to 4:30 pm)

  • Old-fashioned lawn games (badminton and croquet)

  • Kids’ Corner: crafts and activities

  • Tour the Kingswood cottage

The Mackenzie King Tearoom will be open from 11 am to 5 pm. Visitors to the Estate may also bring their own picnic.

Mackenzie King Estate hours of operation

Until October 16, 2016, the Estate will be open at the following times:

  • On weekdays*, 10 am to 5 pm * On Tuesdays, the museums are closed, but the grounds remain open to the public.

  • On weekends, 11 am to 6 pm

* Half rate after 3 pm and on Tuesday. Access to the Estate’s parking lot is free for school groups participating in guided or non-guided tours.

  • Vehicle access is free for school groups, reservation required.

  • Maximum 35 participants
