Bamboo Groove at the Korean Palace - Asian Heritage Month 2014 Friday, May 23, 2014 Peter Liu - vocals Peter Hum - piano Normand Glaude - bass Tim Shia - drums Special guest: Scott Poll - clarinet Performing for the fourth consecutive year for Asian Heritage Month 2014, popular jazz vocalist Peter Liu leads his ensemble as they perform their exciting and evolving arrangements of jazz standards, jazz interpretations of famous Asian pop songs, and originals, with strong passion and groove. Together, they integrate Eastern and Western sounds, as well as traditional and modern jazz styles, creating a transcendent, moving, and thoroughly enjoyable musical experience. The Korean Palace provides a beautiful and relaxing environment, with delicious and authentic Korean cuisine. Known for his smooth velvety voice and engaging presence, Peter Liu performs regularly in jazz combos throughout the Ottawa area. Highlights include performances at the Ottawa International Jazz Festival, the Canadian Tulip Festival, the NAC Fourth Stage, and Rideau Hall. He is also a tenor core member of the acclaimed Ewashko Singers, performing regularly at the NAC and other distinguished venues. Jazz pianist Peter Hum has consistently led a number of outstanding combos since the 1990's, and he has been a mainstay of the Ottawa jazz community. Normand Glaude is one of the busiest local bass players, with many performing and recording projects throughout the year. Toronto in-demand drummer and bandleader Tim Shia has played and recorded with many of Canada’s most acclaimed jazz musicians, and he leads several bands, including the Worst Pop Band Ever.
