Canada Day is a one of a kind event that brings together Canadians across the country. This year, more than ever, Canada Day presents an opportunity to show solidarity, understanding, and resilience. It invites Canadians to come together from coast to coast to coast to reflect on our history and culture. Most importantly, Canada Day gives us space to hold a truthful, reconciling, and inclusive dialogue, strengthen the ties that unite us, and look toward our country’s future with optimism while acknowledging the past. For the second year in a row, in light of the current and ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the government’s priority of keeping Canadians safe, Canada Day will bring all Canadians together and allow them to express their national pride and honour for others in a virtual environment. Stay tuned as Canadian Heritage unveils the full day’s programming in the coming days. But first, Canadian Heritage presents the Canada Day evening program: Lights on Canada Day On July 1 at 8 p.m. (ET), the spotlight will be on those whose job it is to bring beauty to our lives and make our culture shine. Lights on Canada Day is the Canada Day evening program, where we will showcase artists and artisans in the entertainment industry across the country, highlighting the excellence of their work. During the show, Canadians will travel virtually from Ottawa, Ontario to Alberta, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Yukon, Manitoba, New Brunswick, and the Northwest Territories. Artists from each province and territory will share this great Canadian stage that will shine across the country! Lights on Canada Day is hosted by Jully Black and Véronic DiCaire, and features: Jann Arden, Les Trois Accords, JP Saxe, Lara Fabian, Johnny Orlando, Les Hay Babies, Tyler Shaw, Damien Robitaille, Jessia, Gurdeep Pandher, Mélissa Bédard, Terry Uyarak, Paper Lions, Irish Mythen, Inn Echo, Madison Violet, Shawn Jobin, Naya Ali, Prado Monroe, Begonia, Sebastian Gaskin, Boogey the Beat, Major Funk, Boréalis Soul, Lawrence Nayally, Séan McCann, Albert Dumont, Josée Lights on Canada Day is a two-hour program that will broadcast on CBC television and ICI Radio-Canada Télé, as well as on Canadian Heritage's YouTube channel.
