Housed in Ottawa’s oldest stone structure, the Bytown Museum explores the city’s history from the early years of Rideau Canal construction, through the rough and tumble days of Bytown, to its emergence as Canada’s capital and beyond. We are proud to host a variety of unique artifacts and exhibits year-round. The Bytown Museum’s mandate is to collect, preserve, study and make accessible the material and cultural heritage of the Ottawa region’s multicultural and diverse history. In order to support projects such as free programming and digitization, the Museum partners will several organizations within the community throughout the year to host accessible and engaging fundraisers. This year, the Bytown Museum (alongside Parks Canada) is happy to announce that it will continue its partnership with the Casino du Lac-Leamy by hosting the site of the Ottawa Locks as an alternative viewpoint for the Casino Lac-Leamy Sound of Light fireworks! We will be playing the official soundtrack synched to the fireworks with live entertainment and interactive activities for children before the display.
