Award-winning singer-songwriter Tara Shannon set to perform at Ottawa’s RBC Bluesfest on July 8

TORONTO, ON (June 20, 2018) - Award-winning singer-songwriter Tara Shannon is excited to announce her upcoming performance at RBC Bluesfest, one of Ottawa’s largest music festivals. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, RBC Bluesfest will feature performances from world-renowned musicians including Foo Fighters, Dave Matthews Band, Shawn Mendes, Rae Sremmurd and many more. Tara will be performing her brand new single, ‘Someone Who Understands (Remix)’, which was recently released in May 2018. Made in collaboration with Cody Coyote, who will also be performing at the festival, the duo’s newest single is a testament to the incredible sounds that can be found within Ottawa’s thriving music scene. After being diagnosed with Lyme Disease in recent months, Tara is returning to the stage and using her music to spark conversations on the causes closest to her with the 20,000 people attending RBC Bluesfest. Written by Hayley McLean, this new track blends the traditional soulful sounds of Tara’s original single ‘Someone Who Understands’ with Cody’s lyrical hip-hop and electronic influences and connects multiple generations of music lovers. In 2017, Shannon launched her longly-awaited album Unfinished, which received praise and critical acclaim in Ottawa, Montreal and most notably Nashville where she also performed in the legendary radio station, 650 WSM AM. The album was followed by her single “Love Me Loud” which ranked number 8 in Indie downloads on the DMDS/Yangaroo charts in Canada during the first week after the release, surpassing hit artists Major Lazer. The opportunity came after seeing Shannon’s involvement with the Butterfly Child project in 2015, a song she made to raise awareness and funds for Jonathan Pitre, a young Ottawa boy suffering from Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB).
