Arboretum Festival is proud to present DESTROYER (solo) at Ottawa’s St. Alban’s Church on Thursday, February 6, 2014. DESTROYER (Dan Bejar) is known to most as one of Canada's most idiosyncratic and razor-sharp songwriters. He came to prominence in the late 90's with a collection of masterfully written EPs and home recordings in addition to his contributions to Vancouver’s The New Pornographers. His 2001 album, Streethawk: A Desire was critically lauded, and was followed by a string of acclaimed records. His 2011 album Kaputt was met with overwhelming delight by critics and fans alike, reaching a much larger audience as Bejar explored the world of sax-driven synth pop. Bejar now returns with 5 Spanish Songs, a new EP of songs written by Spanish musician Antonio Luque of the band Sr. Chinarro. This event proceeds the vernissage of artists David R. Harper, Rémi Thériault, and Painters Eleven at the Ottawa Art Gallery (2 Daly Avenue). Capacity for this intimate concert date is limited. Advance tickets on sale Friday, December 20 at Vertigo Records, Compact Music locations, and online at Ticketweb.ca. Co-presented by the Ottawa Art Gallery and Herd Magazine, in collaboration with Kichesippi Beer and CHUO 89.1FM. www.mergerecords.com/destroyer | www.arboretumfestival.comDETAILS Arboretum Festival + Ottawa Art Gallery + Herd Magazine present: DESTROYER (solo) Thursday, February 6, 2014 St. Alban's Church (454 King Edward at Daly) Tickets: $10 advance | $15 door (limited capacity) On sale Friday, December 20th at Vertigo Records, Compact Music locations, and online at Ticketweb.ca - 30 - For more information and media requests, please contact: Rolf Klausener, Artistic Director 613.263.3603 | rolf@arboretumfestival.com Stéfanie Power, Managing Director 613.864.7849 | stefanie@arboretumfestival.com Web: www.arboretumfestival.com Facebook: www.facebook.com/arboretumfestivalTwitter | Instagram: @arboretumfest
