Angela Hewitt returns home to Ottawa and the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre next week to kick off the final leg of her Bach Odyssey. The performance will feature the second half of the baroque composer’s English Suites and the rarely-performed Sonata in D major. Her recital of the penultimate part 11 will take place in March 2020, also at Dominion-Chalmers, and include the beloved Italian Concerto in F major. She will conclude with the Art of the Fugue at the National Arts Centre on May 5. Hewitt is in the process of performing every piece the ubiquitous German composer produced for the keys – from the most familiar to the sometimes forgotten. The Ottawa recitals are the only Canadian performances of the full 12-part series, whose other presenters include London’s Wigmore Hall and New York City’s Kaufmann Concert Hall. Angela Hewitt: Bach Odyssey X is part of the 2019-20 Chamberfest Concert Series, and presented in partnership with the National Arts Centre Orchestra.
