Ottawa (Friday, November 6, 2015) — His tunes have been a part of Christmas tradition for the past 50 years, close as an old friend, comfortable as an old blanket. As one third of the legendary San Francisco-based Vince Guaraldi Trio, Jerry Granelli recorded what is considered by many to be the greatest Christmas album of all time— the 1965 soundtrack to the animated classic A Charlie Brown Christmas. Today Granelli is the only remaining member of the famed trio, and he’s returning to Dominion-Chalmers United Church on December 3rd to share stories of the illustrious recording of the famous soundtrack. Part oral history, part concert and part screening, join us for a unique opportunity to revisit Charles Schultz’s Christmas Classic with live musical accompaniment by the Jerry Granelli Trio. Presented by the Ottawa Jazz Festival, this performance provides a unique insider’s perspective for Peanuts and jazz music aficionados alike. Guaraldi’s triple-platinum soundtrack was voted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2007 and is among the most widely-heard albums in all of jazz. The track “Linus and Lucy” is one of the most instantly recognizable pieces of music of the 20th century.
