ree

Music and Beyond is pleased to announce the return of its popular holiday tradition, Christmas with Music and Beyond, taking place on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at 7:30 pm at the Carleton Dominion-Chalmers Centre.

Some of Canada’s top instrumentalists, led by the renowned violinist Jonathan Crow, will be joined by soprano Janelle Lucyk, tenor Kerry Bursey, baritone James Coole-Stevenson the Caelis Academy Ensemble conducted by Matthew Larkin. More than 40 performers will celebrate the spirit of the holiday season and the winter solstice with the music of Handel, Torelli, Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, Holst, Herbiet, Berlioz and many others. This concert will offer a wide variety of festive concert music and seasonal favourites. Proceeds from the concert support Music and Beyond's 15th anniversary fundraising campaign, which has a goal of $500,000. The program features a rich tapestry of vocal and instrumental works spanning the Baroque to the contemporary, highlighting some of the best-loved works from the concert repertoire, many hidden gems, and great Christmas favourites.

The concert will be hosted by Laurence Wall who writes, "Hosting a Music and Beyond Christmas concert is always a delight.   I'm familiar with the programme and the artists as I prepare my MC notes.   But somehow, the final product is even better than I expected.  The music is more moving and more delightful as every musician really rises to the occasion. The result is a superb two hours of music that makes everyone leaving Carleton Dominion-Chalmers feel better about the season and about the road ahead. And really: what more could you ask of a Christmas concert than that?"

Headlining the evening will be the superb Canadian soprano Janelle Lucyk, who has been a favourite at Music and Beyond over the past several years.

Fourteen top Canadian instrumentalists will share the stage including violinists Jonathan Crow and Sara Mastrangelo; violist Marina Thibeault; cellist Julian Armour; double bassist Paul Mach; flutists Pascale Margely and Lindsay Bryden; harpist Caroline Léonardelli; organist and pianist Matthew Larkin; pianist and harpsichordist Frédéric Lacroix; Kerry Burseyon lute; and percussionists Zac Pulak. Also performing will be the Caelis Academy Ensemble, conducted by Matthew Larkin and the Senior Harp Ensemble from École secondaire De La Salle
