Latin American Film Festival 2026: Program announced!

The Group of Embassies of Latin American Countries (GRULA) in Canada, in collaboration with Saint Paul University, is honoured to announce the 29th edition of the Latin American Film Festival (LAFF), which will take place from April 24th  to May 16th, 2026, at the Saint Paul University Amphitheatre G1124, located at 110 Hazel St, Ottawa.

This year’s festival will showcase an extraordinary selection of film productions from 14 countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Uruguay.

Latin America represents a window of opportunity for Canadian filmmakers who look towards crossing borders and broadening their horizons. In the opening panel "Opportunities in the Film Industry: Canada and Latin America", moderated by Jeremy Atherton, experts will discuss some of the advantages that collaboration between Canada and Latin America could bring to the film industry.

During the festival, attendees will enjoy a diversity of genres, including sports, drama, fiction, thriller, and documentary, among others. All films will be screened with English subtitles. Many of the featured films have already gained international and national recognition, being nominated for prestigious film festivals or receiving awards for their outstanding achievements. Tickets can be booked for free through Eventbrite.

This collaboration between GRULA and Saint Paul University demonstrates the strong ties between Latin America and Canada, as well as the shared commitment to promoting cultural exchange and understanding between our nations. The Embassies of the Latin American Countries (GRULA) in Canada and Saint Paul University invite everyone to attend this unique cultural event and experience the diversity and richness of Latin American cinema.
