This week Capital Pride announced it's 2023 Festival theme: Get Proud!
Pride started as a protest and remains a time to advocate. This year, perhaps more than in recent memory, there is a need to show up for our community in the face of rising anti-2SLGBTQ+ hate. Trans people, drag artists, and queer youth and families are increasingly being targeted by groups seeking to dismantle our progress—but we can’t back down. We must instead continue to push forward, and that’s why this year’s theme, Get Proud, promotes the urgent need to mobilize against hate and continue to strive for progress.
Pride is a time for our community to be together. This year, our theme is a call to celebrate together even more loudly and proudly. With a line-up of programming, amazing artists and performers, dozens of community events and confetti at the ready, it’s time to Get Proud!
