Gloucester Agricultural Society

The Capital Fair has deep roots in community spirit, beginning in 1975 as the Gloucester Festival of Friends.
Back then, The Fairgrounds at the Earl Armstrong Arena were alive with families, rides, and excitement. As the event grew in popularity, in 1998 we moved to our new home at the Rideau Carleton Entertainment Centre, where The Fair continues to thrive today.
In 2014, we embraced a bold new chapter as The Capital Fair, with a new name, new dates, and a bigger vision. What began as a 4-day event has blossomed into a 10-day celebration packed with thrills for all ages.
Along the way, we’ve introduced new shows and performances, and partnered with incredible organizations — including World’s Finest Shows, Eastern Ontario’s largest midway performer, and Hydro Ottawa, long-time supporters of our Special Needs Day.
Today, The Capital Fair continues to grow — but we’ve never lost sight of what matters most: bringing people together, celebrating local culture, and creating unforgettable memories in a space that’s welcoming, inclusive, and filled with joy.
This year, we’re proud to celebrate 50 years of laughter, community, and tradition. Join us as we mark this incredible milestone together!
