About the Role
Position: DE1 – Operations Coordinator –Debaser
Contract Length: 26 Weeks Start Date: April 20, 2026 End Date: October 19, 2026
Work Schedule: Full Time - 4 business days per week (32 hours) Location: Debaser 67 Nicholas St
Job Summary: This position is funded through Ontario’s Job Creation Partnerships (see more details below). The Operations Coordinator supports the effective planning and execution of events, volunteer engagement, and marketing initiatives. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, adaptable professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
Operations & Administration
· Support event logistics including box office, hospitality, merchandise, and volunteer supervision
· Assist with expense documentation, accounting software entry, and supply procurement
Volunteer Coordination
· Lead volunteer recruitment, scheduling, communications, and training
· Provide on-site supervision during events
· Develop and distribute volunteer surveys and prepare summary reports
Marketing & Communications
· Support marketing rollouts including website updates, event listings, and asset organization
· Assist with photographer recruitment, schedules, and media release agreements
Skills and Qualifications:
Required
· Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively
· Comfortable working evenings and weekends
· Proficiency in Google/Microsoft Suite
· Customer service experience
Assets
· Experience in event management, volunteer coordination, or the arts/nonprofit sector
· Familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks, Wave) or marketing tools (Mailchimp, WordPress)
Additional Qualifications Required:
Candidate eligibility for JCP is determined according to the following criteria:
1. An unemployed job seeker or those employed less than 20 hours per week.
2. A permanent resident living in Ontario who is legally authorized to work in Canada.
3. Meet at least 1 of the following criteria:
a. Has an established Employment Insurance (EI) benefit period.
b. Previously established an EI benefit period that has ended within the previous 60 months.
c. Paid employee EI premiums (e.g. Box 18 on the T4) in at least 3 of the last 10 years while earnings have been at least $2000 in each of those years.
NOTE: Persons currently enrolled in full-time academic studies are not eligible for consideration. Those who qualify to establish an Employment Insurance (EI) claim must do so prior to being considered for JCP participation.
Remuneration:
$704 (gross) per week paid biweekly by the Province of Ontario (average hourly rate: $22.00 based on 4 days/32 hours).
