Physical Practices for Stage Presence

with Denise Mader of First Root, Toronto Sat., Oct. 3 – 4:30 to 6:30 pm $28.75 This workshop introduces concepts from various movement methodologies in order to develop the mind/body connection. Exercises will focus on developing awareness of habitual patterns and a deeper relationship to core steadiness and ease in order to ground, open, and free the body, energy, breath, voice, and creative impulse. The workshop begins with a hatha yoga practice followed by various theatre exercises and concluding with the integration of movement with the influence of music. Break out of your movement box in this marriage of physiological awareness and play. Please wear comfortable clothes you can move in that aren't too loose or baggy. Bring a yoga mat if you have one. We will work in bare feet unless this is not comfortable for you, in which case bring whatever shoes work best for you. Please memorize a few lines (approximately 10 – 15) of text from a monologue that you enjoy and connect with to use in an exercise (time permitting). The text can be from any play.
