The 14th annual Asinabka Festival returns September 18th, featuring 50 Indigenous made films, indoor & outdoor film screenings, ’Tante Ohci' a solo exhibition by Jaime Morse, 'Neon Wigwam' Indigenous Music Showcase, Q&A's, artist talks, industry events, and an Indigenous arts and crafts vendor market.
Our film schedule has 12 separate film programs, with 4 feature length films, and over 40 short films, including a program of Maori & Pacific shorts curated by Leo Koziol from the Wairoa Maori Film Festival (New Zealand), and the Ottawa premiere of Nika & Madison, fresh from the premiere at TIFF.
Our music showcase takes place at Club SAW and features a cohort of predominantly Ottawa-based vinyl and electronic DJ’s. Our art exhibition "Tante Ohci - Where From?" features Cree-Métis artist Jamie Koebel, curated by Jason Baerg, and is produced in partnership with Gallery 101 and the Shushkitew Collective. As a part of the festival, we''re also excited to have Indigenous craft vendors set-up for 4 days in the Berlanga Lounge at the Arts Court.
We’re honoured and delighted to be able to present all of this year's programming and artistic talent, please join us in-person at SAW Gallery, Gallery 101, the Berlanga Lounge, and the Asinabka Festival office hub, for the 2025 edition of the Asinabka Festival.
Thanks to all this years volunteers, venues, and partners for their continued support, and a special thanks to the Shushkitew Collective, for their support of our art show at Gallery 101. We would also like to thank and acknowledge the support of the City of Ottawa, the Government of Ontario, and the Ontario Arts Council.
