Twelve Diplomatic Missions featured at 7 Clarence Street for Canada’s 150th Anniversary
In 2017, the newly constructed building at 7 Clarence Street will welcome twelve diplomatic missions to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary. The site will become the 2017 International Pavilion where diplomatic missions will exhibit and promote their countries’ relationship with Canada. They will also showcase the best of their culture, commerce, ideas, values and traditions.
The diplomatic missions that will present programing at the International Pavilion, starting in February 2017, include: United States of America, Mongolia, Swiss Confederation, Kingdom of the Netherlands, Israel, Republic of Poland, Federal Republic of Germany, Republic of Cuba, Ireland, Kingdom of Belgium, Hungary and the Republic of the Philippines.
In addition to the International Pavilion at 7 Clarence Street, the National Capital Commission will leverage several of its unique and under-used properties and partner to animate them as 2017 Confederation Pavilions. These pavilions will create a unique itinerary for residents and visitors to discover the built heritage in Canada’s Capital Region.
Furthermore, the NCC will leverage its assets and planning expertise towards meaningful legacy initiatives, including the completion of the Plan for Canada’s Capital 2017-2067. Major infrastructure renewal projects will be undertaken to enhance and beautify our Capital. The NCC will also facilitate partner’s initiatives by providing timely Federal Approvals and permits for major events on NCC land.
