Mādahòkì Farm presents Minopogwad - A Series of Winterlude Culinary Events

January 23, 2025 - Ottawa, ON – This Winterlude, Mādahòkì Farm, in partnership with Ottawa Tourism and TD Bank is inviting Ottawa residents and visitors to experience authentic Indigenous cuisine blended with cultural performances, storytelling, and community connection at Minopogwad. These events are in partnership with and will take place at a variety of venues across the city.

Mādahòkì translates to “share the land ” while MINOPOGWAD means “good taste” in Anishinaabemowin – two concepts that perfectly encapsulate the spirit of these special events. Guests will have the opportunity to explore Indigenous culinary traditions with menus crafted by Executive Chef Billy Alexander from ingredients that honour Indigenous peoples' deep connection to the land.

Taste of Nature, an immersive six-course Indigenous dining experience, will take place at the Museum of Nature on Thursday, February 6 from 7 PM to 9 PM. Madahoki’s Chef Billy Alexander is joined by renowned Indigenous chefs, Trudy Metcalfe-Coe, and Joseph Shawana who together will showcase dishes made with foraged ingredients, sharing the cultural significance of each. Limited tickets are available via eventbrite.

Chef Billy Alexander will be representing Mādahòkì Farm with a chef station at this year’s Snowball: A Cool Winter’s Eve on Wednesday, February 12 at the Ottawa Art Gallery. All attendees will enjoy bites of Indigenous comfort foods while raising funds for The Snowsuit Fund. This multi-chef cocktail party promises a unique and delicious evening for a great cause. Tickets are available now.
