Dear Friends, We are extremely excited to have past Kiwanis Music Festival star Steffi D as our Master of Ceremonies at this Saturday's Music Theatre Trophy Night taking place at Glebe St James United Church! Please note the change in location - click here to get directions. Read on to find out about Steffi's accomplishments in the short time since she appeared in our Festival... Steffi D Montreal-born and Ottawa-raised Steffi DiDomenicantonio has been acting, singing and performing on stage since the age of 8. She has also been using her Italian last name as a tongue twister her whole life. If you'd like, you can call her Steffi D, a nickname she acquired during her run on the 4th Season of Canadian Idol in 2006, where, after millions of votes, she finished as the Top 5 finalist. During her time on the show, she had the privilege of working and performing with great artists such as Cindy Lauper, Roger Hodgson, Dennis DeYoung, Chantal Kreviazuk, Martina McBride and Nelly Furtado. Five years later, she joined forces with fellow contestant Chad Doucette to form their dynamic folk/pop duo band Good Together, songwriting and performing original music in Toronto. She has also been seen on the small screen playing Audrey in the French Canadian Television Series Moitie Moitie that ran for 4 consecutive seasons, for which she also recorded the theme song. Steffi D has also portrayed Lila Drone in the movie Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town, based on the popular Canadian novel of the same name by Stephen Leacock, which aired on CBC in 2012. In 2008, after a year of intensive training at the George Brown Theatre School, she packed her suitcases and toured the United States with the Tony Award winning Broadway rock musical Spring Awakening, in the role of the troubled Ilse. Steffi traveled with the show for 2 years, to 44 different cities and did over 600 performances. You are a one woman rock opera spectacular." -Zack Werner "She's got star quality. I see big things for her future. I'm a big fan." -Martina McBride "When she is on stage, it is hard to look away from her." -Erin Carlyle, Gimme Noise "Steffi D is particularly magnetic..." -James Herbert, Union Tribune "She gets rock. Her voice equals her presence... Her voice punches as if the microphone is in her way and this close to getting a beating." -David Novinski, Front Row TICKETS ARE GOING FAST!!
