King’s Singers to perform specially-curated holiday concert with Ottawa Choral Society at Chamberfest

OTTAWA – The King’s Singers, world-renowned for half a century of unparalleled a cappella performance, will round out their 50th anniversary by helping to kick off the Christmas season in Ottawa. They’ll perform in the Chamberfest Concert Series with local favourites the Ottawa Choral Society and pianist Matthew Larkin Friday, Dec. 14 and Saturday, Dec. 15 at Dominion-Chalmers. Silver & Gold – the title a tribute to Chamberfest’s 25 years and the King’s Singers’ 50, as well as traditional Christmas decorations – will celebrate the season in three parts. The six-part U.K. ensemble – called “the superlative vocal sextet” by the London Times – and 120-strong Ottawa choir will each perform separate sets, and then unite for a powerful culmination. This is the third year that Chamberfest and the Ottawa Choral Society have collaborated on a unique holiday programme to bring beloved international arts before Ottawans in the thousands. Previous concerts featured such artists as broadcaster Ben Heppner, and Metropolitan Opera soprano Mireille Asselin and baritone Russell Braun.
