InitLive Event and Staff Management Software Selected as Tool-of-Choice for Ottawa 2017

InitLive is one of Ottawa’s newest and most innovative technology firms, and its software has been chosen to help register and manage the thousands of volunteers required to help execute the many high-caliber events now being planned by the Ottawa 2017 Bureau. Melissa Pinard, co-founder of InitLive commented, “We have already been working with many key customers and events, on a global basis, including The World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland and IEEE Globecom in San Francisco. It is both an honour and a further testament to the power of our technology to have now been chosen to support such a prominent organization here in our hometown.” Ottawa 2017 is the not-for-profit organizing body behind the dozens of exciting public events and experiences that will be brought together here in our nation’s capital for the year-long celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday in 2017. The festivities will showcase the best Ottawa has to offer, including in this case, some of its best technology. “The planning of these landmark celebrations offers an excellent opportunity to work with leading local companies, such as InitLive, enabling us to highlight the expertise and creativity of Ottawa’s high-tech community while delivering a memorable year with lasting impacts for area businesses,” said Guy Laflamme, Executive Director of the Ottawa 2017 Bureau. The InitLive software, which Ottawa 2017 is using to facilitate their volunteer program, is designed to help create more efficient, better executed, safer events. It provides event planners with a comprehensive, cloud-based event planning and scheduling service, as well as a real-time, smartphone-based communication system for event staff and volunteers during event days. The software reduces event set-up time, keeps planners and managers organized and in control, and importantly, streamlines all event-day communications to ensure safer, more enjoyable and successful events. For example, Bridget Erlikh, Conferences Administrator for IEEE’s GlobeCom 2016 in San Francisco stated, “I was very satisfied with the communication features on event day. It was critical to be able to reach my volunteers. We used the broadcast feature in the app to do this. It definitely helped us dot all our i’s and cross all our t’s in the conference Headquarters.” With the nation’s big birthday party just around the corner, Ottawa 2017 and InitLive teams are already busy working to ensure the celebrations are a resounding success for the millions of participants as well as an engaging and rewarding experience for the thousands of volunteers.
